Silverado 2500 and Sierra 2500 have wrong tire pressure label

Some 2024-2025 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and GMC Sierra 2500 trucks with the enhanced towing option and the 20-inch accessory wheel and tire package have a sticker listing the wrong rear tire pressure. If you follow it, your rear tires end up underinflated. Worse, the truck's tire pressure warning system will not light up to tell you the tires are low, so you may never notice.

Cadillac Escalade IQ and GMC Hummer EV battery fire risk

A part inside the big battery pack that powers these electric vehicles may not have been fastened down properly. If it comes loose, it can shift around and damage the battery, and a damaged battery can catch fire. You cannot see or hear this problem from the driver's seat, so there is no warning sign to watch for. Your dealer will replace the entire high-voltage battery pack at no cost to you.

Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra roof airbag recall expanded

This covers more trucks with the same roof airbag problem as an earlier recall. The airbags mounted in the roof rails above the side windows have a gas canister whose end cap can detach, or whose sidewall can split open. If that happens, the compressed gas escapes and can launch the cap or metal fragments into the cab, where they can injure the people inside. Dealers will replace both roof rail airbag modules at no cost to you.

Cadillac, Chevy and GMC SUVs: wrong front wheel bolts

Some of these large SUVs left the factory with the wrong bolts installed on the left and right front wheel hubs. Over time those bolts can work loose or bend out of shape, and a bolt can break. Only vehicles built with the 24-inch wheels are affected. If a bolt loosens or breaks while you are driving, you can lose control of the vehicle. A dealer will replace both front wheel hub bolts for free; owner letters went out June 18, 2026.

Chevy Tahoe and GMC Yukon wheels can lock up

These four-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive trucks and SUVs may be missing a part inside the transfer case, the gearbox that sends power to the front and rear wheels. Because of that, the front wheels, the rear wheels, or both can suddenly lock up with no warning at all. GM says not to drive the vehicle until the repair is done. Locked wheels can easily cause a crash. A dealer will inspect the transfer case and replace it if needed, free.

Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra roof airbag can rupture

Your truck has airbags built into the roof rails above the side windows. On these trucks, the end cap on the airbag's gas canister can come off, or the wall of the canister can split open. Either way, the compressed gas inside escapes and can throw the cap or pieces of metal into the cabin where people are sitting. That can seriously hurt someone. GM's fix is to replace the roof airbag units on both the left and right sides.

Chevrolet Silverado 3500 and GMC Sierra 3500 can stall

These trucks have two fuel tanks, and a pump is supposed to move fuel from the rear tank to the front one. That pump may not move enough fuel forward. If the front tank runs low even though there is still gas in the rear tank, the engine can stall — cutting power while you are driving, possibly in traffic. The repair is an engine computer software update, done at a dealer or sent to the truck wirelessly.

GM and Cadillac vehicles missing electronic owner's manual download

The radio in these vehicles was not set to the right status at the factory, so it never downloaded the electronic owner's manual that is meant to live on the dashboard screen. Nothing mechanical is wrong with the vehicle. The concern is that without the manual, owners may not find instructions for using the vehicle safely — including airbag and seating information — and could be hurt in a crash as a result. A dealer resets the radio so the manual downloads automatically.

Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon and Escalade rear wheels may lock

These 2022 full-size SUVs with the 10-speed automatic transmission have a part inside the transmission, the control valve, that can fail. If it does, the rear wheels can lock up while you are driving, which can make you lose control or be struck from behind. Dealers will install new transmission control software at no cost. GM mailed owner letters on April 7, 2026, and affected vehicle numbers have been searchable since February 12, 2026.

Silverado and Sierra: rear wheels can suddenly lock up

These trucks were repaired under an earlier transmission recall, but that repair may not have been done correctly. A valve inside the automatic transmission can fail, and when it does the rear wheels can lock up while you are driving. Locked rear wheels can make the truck slide or spin and you could crash. The dealer will inspect your truck and install corrected transmission software at no charge. Owner letters went out on March 6, 2026.

Rollx Wheelchair Vans: Restraints May Not Lock Wheelchair

These are vans converted by Rollx for wheelchair use. The straps that hold a wheelchair use retractors, which work like a seat belt: they pull in slack and then lock so the chair cannot roll. On these vans, the QRT-Deluxe and QRT-Max retractors may fail to lock. If they do not lock, the wheelchair and the person in it can shift or slide while the van is moving, which raises the risk of injury. Rollx and the restraint maker will check the retractors and replace them if needed.

GMC Canyon passenger airbag may inflate too forcefully

The passenger airbag in these 2024-2026 Canyon AT4X AEV trucks can inflate in two strengths, and a computer decides which one the crash calls for. Because that computer has the wrong software, it may fire the stronger second stage when only the gentler first stage was meant to go off. An airbag that inflates harder than intended can hurt the person sitting there, so the truck does not meet federal crash protection rules. Dealers reload the correct software.

Cadillac, Chevy, GMC Diesel SUVs May Leak Fuel

Some of these SUVs with the 6-cylinder diesel engine had their original fuel tank replaced with the wrong one at some point. The incorrect tank can let fuel leak out if the vehicle rolls over in a crash. Leaking fuel near anything hot or sparking can start a fire. A dealer will check which tank is on your vehicle and install the correct one if the wrong tank is found, at no cost.

Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra roof airbag may burst apart

The roof-rail airbags run along the ceiling above the doors. The metal canister that fills these airbags with gas can come apart: an end cap can detach, or the side of the canister can split open. If that happens, pressurized gas escapes and can throw the end cap or pieces of metal into the cabin toward the people inside. Dealers replace both the left and right roof airbag units at no cost to you.

Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac 6.2L V8 engines may fail

These full-size trucks and SUVs have the 6.2-liter V8 gas engine. Some were built with faulty connecting rods or crankshafts — heavy internal parts that keep the engine turning. Those parts can break, damaging the engine badly enough that it quits. Dealers will inspect your engine and repair or replace it if needed. If it passes inspection, they will switch it to a thicker oil, put on a new oil filter and oil fill cap, and update your owner's manual. All free.

GMC Sierra 1500 chrome grille piece may fall off

Certain 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 trucks have a chrome deflector on the front grille. The clips and attachment points that hold this trim piece on can break, which lets the grille deflector come loose and fall off the truck. If that happens while driving, the loose piece becomes debris in the road that other drivers could hit or swerve to avoid. A dealer will reinforce or repair all of the attachment points so the piece stays put. Owner letters went out March 17, 2025.

Silverado EV and Sierra EV rear seat belt bolt loose

The bolt that holds the rear center seat belt to the seat frame may not have been tightened properly at the factory. A loose bolt means that belt may not hold a passenger the way it is supposed to if there is a crash. All of the trucks involved are still sitting in dealer inventory and have not been sold, so GM is not mailing letters to owners. Dealers will simply tighten the bolt before the truck is delivered.

Chevy and GMC HD tailgate may unlatch by itself

These heavy-duty pickups have a tailgate that opens with an electric button. Water can get into that button's switch and cause a short circuit, which can make the tailgate unlatch on its own while the truck is parked. If the tailgate then swings open, anything loose in the bed can fall out onto the road and create a hazard for you and other drivers. Dealers replace the outside touchpad switch assemblies, and GM says to check the tailgate before driving.

Chevy, GMC and Cadillac diesels: rear wheels can lock

A part inside the automatic transmission, called the control valve, can fail on these diesel-powered pickups and large SUVs. If it breaks, the rear wheels can suddenly lock up while you are driving, which can make the vehicle skid or spin. Your dealer will load new transmission computer software free of charge. That software also checks for a bad control valve, and GM has a special coverage program to pay for repairing transmissions found to have one.

Silverado and Sierra crew cabs: roof airbag can burst

The airbags that drop down from the roof along the side windows are inflated by a metal canister of compressed gas. On these trucks, the end cap can detach from that canister, or the canister wall can split open. If that happens, gas escapes suddenly and can throw the cap or other pieces into the cabin, injuring people inside or causing the driver to crash. The dealer will replace both the left and right roof airbag units at no cost to you.

GMC Sierra EV front turn signals hard to see

On these trucks, the front turn signal lights are too close in brightness to the parking lights beside them, so when you signal a turn the blinking light does not stand out. Other drivers, riders and people crossing the street may not notice that you plan to turn. Because of that, the truck does not meet the federal rules for lights and reflectors. Dealers will replace the module that runs the headlamp LEDs, free of charge.

Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon loose seat belt bolts

A bolt that holds a front seat belt buckle onto the seat may not have been tightened enough at the factory. It could be the left seat, the right seat, or both. A buckle that is not held down tightly may not hold a person in place properly during a crash, which can mean worse injuries. The repair is quick and simple: dealers tighten the buckle bolts on both front seats to the correct setting.

Chevy Express and GMC Savana cutaway brake line leak

Certain 2013-2019 Chevrolet Express Cutaway and GMC Savana Cutaway vehicles built with the optional GM body mounts have a brake line routed too close to those mounts. Contact or rubbing can damage the line, and a damaged line can leak brake fluid. If enough fluid leaks out, the brakes can fail. GM mailed a first letter in November 2024 warning owners about the danger; a second letter goes out when the repair parts are ready, expected around February 28, 2025.

Chevy, GMC and Cadillac trucks miss brake fluid warning

Your truck or SUV has a computer that watches the brake system. Because of a software problem, that computer may not turn on the dashboard warning light when brake fluid gets low. You could keep driving without knowing anything is wrong, and low fluid can make the brakes work less well. The fix is new software, sent to your vehicle over the air or installed by a dealer.

GMC Canyon headlights may flicker while driving

Some 2024 GMC Canyon trucks have headlights that flicker, both while you're driving and while the truck is parked. A part inside the headlight assembly is at fault. Flickering headlights make it harder to see the road ahead at night or in bad weather, and they don't meet the federal rules for vehicle lighting. Your dealer will replace the faulty module inside the headlight so the lights stay steady and bright again.

Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon fuel tank ring may leak

The fuel pump sits inside the gas tank and is held in place by a large ring that twists shut, like a jar lid. On these trucks, that ring may not have been twisted all the way closed at the factory. If the truck is in a crash, the loose ring can let gasoline leak out, and spilled gasoline near anything hot or sparking can start a fire. Your dealer will check the ring and lock it down properly, free of charge.

Cadillac Lyriq and Other GM EVs Can Lose Power

The wires inside the electric motor that drives the rear wheels may not be properly insulated. If two of them touch, the motor can lose power, and the vehicle can stop pulling while you are driving. Because these are electric vehicles, that means no power to the wheels at all. General Motors is fixing it by replacing the entire rear drive unit, the motor package at the back of the vehicle, free of charge at your dealer.

Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon front wheel bolts may break

The bolts that hold each front wheel hub in place may have been tightened too hard during assembly, which can damage them. Damaged bolts can work loose or break while you are driving. If that happens, the wheel hub is no longer held tight and you can lose control of the truck. Clunking, knocking, or a wobble from the front end are warning signs. The dealer will replace the front hub bolts on both sides at no cost.

Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon brake on their own

On certain 2023 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon trucks, the camera at the front of the truck can mistakenly think something is in the road. When that happens, the automatic emergency braking system kicks in even though nothing is there, and the truck slows down or stops suddenly. That can surprise you and the drivers behind you. The fix is a software update for the camera system.

Chevy and GMC heavy-duty tailgate can unlatch by itself

These heavy-duty Chevrolet and GMC pickups have a button on the outside of the tailgate that releases it electrically. Water can get into that switch and short it out, which can make the tailgate unlatch on its own while the truck is sitting in park. If the tailgate then swings open while you drive, anything loose in the bed can fall out onto the road behind you. The dealer will replace the outside touchpad switch free of charge.

Chevrolet and GMC door strikers can break unexpectedly

On certain 2024 Chevrolet Blazer, Blazer EV, Equinox and GMC Terrain vehicles, the door strikers can crack and break. A striker is the metal loop on the door frame that the door latch grabs to hold the door shut. If one breaks, that door can swing open on its own — including while you are driving down the road. Dealers will replace all four door strikers and their bolts for free.

Hummer EV and Silverado EV front seat belt bolts loose

The bolts that hold the front seat belt buckles in place may not have been tightened enough when the vehicle was built. This can affect the driver's side, the passenger's side, or both. A buckle that is not bolted down tightly may not hold you properly in a crash, so the belt would not protect you the way it should. The fix is simple: a dealer tightens the bolts on both front buckles.

GMC Acadia and Cadillac XT5, XT6 Windshield Bonding Problem

Windshields are glued to the body with a strong sealant that helps hold the glass in place during a crash. On some of these vehicles the windshield was installed without the proper sealant, so it may not be properly bonded. In a crash the windshield could come loose or detach, and people inside could be hurt worse. The dealer inspects the windshield, applies primer and sealant, and replaces the glass if it is damaged, all free of charge.

Cadillac Escalade, Tahoe and Yukon rear suspension bolts break

The bolts that hold the rear suspension arms on your SUV were not heat-treated properly at the factory, so they are weaker than they should be. A weak bolt can snap while you are driving. If one breaks, the rear wheel on that side can shift out of alignment, which can make the vehicle hard to control and lead to a crash. Dealers will replace both rear outer control arm bolts with correct ones at no charge.

Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra HD can lose steering

On these heavy duty Silverado and Sierra pickups, the shaft inside the steering gear can break and separate from the steering arm. If that happens, turning the steering wheel stops moving the front wheels and you lose steering control of the truck entirely. There is no warning beforehand, and it could happen at any speed. Dealers will inspect the steering gear and replace it if it is not right, at no cost. This is among the most serious kinds of defect.

Chevy Equinox and GMC Terrain child seat anchors blocked

The metal bars in the back seat that a child seat clips onto got too much paint coating at the factory. The extra thickness can stop the clips from latching on, so the child seat may not attach the way it should. Until the car is fixed, GM says to install child seats using the vehicle's rear seat belts instead of the anchor bars. A dealer will inspect the bars and remove and replace the finish where needed, at no cost.

GM SUVs may lose power from faulty transmission gear

The transmission in these Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC SUVs may have been built with the wrong gear inside. Because of that, the axle shaft on the driver's side can come apart from the transmission. If it does, the vehicle can suddenly lose the power that drives the wheels. It also means the vehicle may roll away after you shift into park, because park no longer holds it in place.

Cadillac XT5 and GMC Acadia axle shaft can separate

The right-front axle shaft that sends engine power to the wheel may not have been attached to the transmission correctly, so it can pull apart. If that happens the vehicle can suddenly lose the ability to move under its own power. Worse, with the shaft separated, shifting into park may not actually hold the vehicle, so it could roll away on its own after you get out. Dealers replace the right-front axle shaft assembly at no charge.

GM Silverado and Sierra dual fuel tanks can stall engine

Some heavy-duty Silverado and Sierra pickups ordered with the two-fuel-tank option can have a problem with the rear tank. The rear tank may cave in, which stops the fuel pump from moving diesel fuel up to the front tank. If fuel stops reaching the engine, the engine can shut off while you are driving. Dealers will look at the rear tank and the fuel pump, replace either one if needed, and add a vent hose to the rear tank.

Chevy Equinox, GMC Terrain passenger airbag may not switch off

These Equinox and Terrain models have ventilated front passenger seats with a system that senses who is sitting there. It is supposed to shut off the front passenger airbag when a small child or a child car seat is in that spot. On these vehicles it may not shut the airbag off. An airbag that goes off in a crash with a child or infant in the front seat can hurt them badly. Dealers will replace the sensing system for free.
