Nissan Armada and Infiniti QX80: wrong weight rating label

The sticker on the door frame lists how much weight each axle can safely carry. On these vehicles with 22-inch wheels, that number is printed too high. If you load up to what the label says, you could actually be carrying more than the tires and wheels are built to handle. Nissan will install a corrected label free of charge and is also mailing replacement labels to owners. Nothing mechanical is wrong with the vehicle itself.

Nissan and Infiniti backup camera may not show image

When you start the vehicle, a software glitch in the touchscreen system can keep the backup camera picture from showing up. Shift into reverse and the screen may stay blank, so you cannot see what is behind you. Federal rules require that picture to appear. This affects certain Nissan Murano and Armada and Infiniti QX80 models. The fix is a software update, done either at the dealer or sent to the vehicle over the air, at no charge.

Nissan and Infiniti turbo engines may fail or burn

Certain Nissan Rogue and Altima and Infiniti QX50 and QX55 models with the 1.5-liter or 2.0-liter variable compression turbo engine were built with faulty engine bearings. Those bearings can wear out and destroy the engine. In a bad failure the bearing can punch a hole in the engine block, spraying hot oil that can start a fire. The dealer reprograms the engine computer at no charge to reduce the risk.

Nissan Murano, Pathfinder, Infiniti QX60: front calipers may break

One or both front brake calipers — the parts that squeeze the brake pads against the wheel to slow the car — may not be as strong as they should be, and could break. If one breaks, you can lose braking at the front wheels, which do most of the stopping. Because of this, the vehicles do not meet the federal brake safety standard. Dealers will inspect both front calipers and replace them where needed.

Infiniti QX80 backup camera screen can go blank

Certain 2025 Infiniti QX80 SUVs with the Around View Monitor camera system have a software bug. When you shift into reverse, the backup camera picture can freeze or the screen can go blank instead of showing what is behind you. Without that picture you cannot see people, pets, or objects behind the vehicle as well as you should. Because of this, the SUVs do not meet the federal rear-visibility rule. Dealers will reload the camera system software at no cost.

Nissan Rogue and Infiniti QX80 backup camera goes blank

A software glitch can make the backup camera screen go blank when you shift into reverse. Instead of seeing what is behind the vehicle, you get a black display. That also breaks a federal safety rule requiring a working rear view. The problem is in the infotainment software, not the camera itself, so the fix is a software update. Many vehicles can receive it wirelessly without a trip to the dealer.

Infiniti Q50 and Q70 driveshaft can break

The driveshaft is the spinning bar that carries power from the transmission to the rear wheels. On these rear-wheel-drive cars it can weaken over time and snap. If it breaks while you are driving, the car can suddenly stop pulling even though the engine is still running. If it breaks while the car is parked, the car can roll away unless the parking brake is set. Dealers will replace the driveshaft free of charge.

Nissan Pathfinder and Infiniti QX60 seat belt part loose

On certain 2024 Nissan Pathfinder and Infiniti QX60 vehicles, a rivet is missing from the driver's-side front seat belt. That rivet holds down the part of the lap belt that pulls the belt tight in a crash. Without it, that part is not properly fastened to the vehicle, so the lap belt may not hold the person in the seat during a crash. A dealer inspects the belt and replaces the part if needed.

Nissan and Infiniti driver airbag may deploy improperly

Because of a manufacturing problem, the driver's airbag in these Nissan and Infiniti vehicles can soak up moisture. A damp airbag may not inflate the way it is supposed to in a crash. That means the airbag in the steering wheel might not protect the driver properly in a collision. There is no warning light or symptom you can check yourself. The dealer replaces the whole driver's airbag at no cost.

Infiniti QX60 headlights aim too low at speed

These SUVs have headlights that aim themselves automatically as you drive. At certain higher speeds, the system can tilt the beams too far downward. That is the opposite of what you want at speed: the light lands close to the front of the vehicle instead of reaching far down the road, so you see less of what is coming. The dealer fixes it by changing settings in one of the vehicle's control modules.

Nissan Rogue, Pathfinder, Infiniti QX60 driver's seat may loosen

The driver's power seat may not be bolted tightly to its frame. Over time the welds holding the frame to a bracket at the back can break loose. A seat that isn't firmly attached may not hold the driver in place in a crash, so a crash that would have caused minor injuries could cause worse ones. A dealer checks the seat and replaces the seat cushion frame if needed, at no charge.

INFINITI QX50, QX55 front passenger door won't auto-lock

The wrong latch may have been installed inside the front right passenger door lock. Because of that, the door doesn't lock itself automatically the way it is designed to. A door that isn't locked can come unlatched and swing open during a crash, which can leave a person unprotected or thrown from the vehicle. The door still opens and closes normally otherwise. A dealer replaces the entire front right door lock assembly.

Infiniti QX60 second-row seat may not lock

On some 2023 Infiniti QX60 vehicles, the sliding second-row seat can move back farther than it was designed to go. When that happens, the seat can be hard to move, get stuck, or fail to click into a locked position. A seat that is not locked in place can move during a crash, so it may not hold the person sitting there as it should and they could be hurt. A dealer will take out the second-row seat and put in a new one.

Nissan Pathfinder and Infiniti QX60 missing second-row seat bolt

Some of these vehicles left the factory with a bolt missing from the track that holds the second-row seat to the floor. With that bolt gone, the seat is not anchored as strongly as it should be, and it could shift or move in a crash. Anyone riding in the second row could be hurt more badly as a result. A dealer will inspect the seat track and install a new mounting bolt if one is missing.

Infiniti Q50, Q60 and QX80 backup camera screen shuts off

A software error can switch off the audio and video screen in the middle of the dashboard. When that screen is off, the backup camera picture does not appear after you shift into reverse, which federal rules require it to do. You lose your view of anything low or close behind the vehicle, such as a small child or a bicycle lying in the driveway. The fix is a free software update at the dealer; no parts need to be replaced.

Nissan Murano and INFINITI models: weak steering and axle parts

Part of the front steering or the rear axle housing on these vehicles may be weaker than it should be, because it wasn't heat-treated correctly at the factory. If you hit something like a curb, that weak part can bend. Bending in the front can make you lose control of the steering. Bending in the back can let a wheel come off the vehicle. Either one can cause a crash.

Nissan Armada and INFINITI QX80 fuel pumps can fail

A small spinning part inside the fuel pump can swell up and jam, which makes the pump quit. When the pump stops, gasoline stops reaching the engine and the engine can shut off while you are driving. Losing the engine in traffic makes a crash more likely. This affects Armada and QX80 models with the V8 engine. Dealers will put in a whole new fuel pump unit at no charge to you.

Infiniti Q50 and Q60 engine may stall during acceleration

The computer that controls the engine has a software problem on these cars. When it detects rapid acceleration, it can wrongly cut engine power and reduce the fuel going to the engine. Starved of fuel, the engine can stall. A dealer fixes this by reprogramming the engine computer with corrected software — nothing on the car has to be taken apart or replaced.

INFINITI QX50 tire information sticker may be unreadable

On some 2020 INFINITI QX50 vehicles, the label that lists your tire size and how much weight the vehicle can safely carry may be printed so faintly that it cannot be read. If you or a tire shop cannot read that information, the wrong size tires could be installed, or the vehicle could be loaded with more weight than it is built to handle. Either one can make the vehicle handle poorly or cause a tire to fail.

Infiniti Q60 rear seat belts may not lock

Some 2020 Infiniti Q60 cars have rear seat belts with a dual-mode locking mechanism. The sensor that is supposed to lock the belt webbing may not lock the way it should. If that happens, the rear belt may not hold a passenger firmly in place during a crash. Dealers will check the production dates on the rear seat belt assemblies and replace them if needed, at no charge. The recall began May 4, 2020.

Nissan and Infiniti brake pump leak can cause fire

The pump for the anti-lock brakes — the system that keeps your wheels from locking up in a hard stop — can leak brake fluid onto a small circuit board inside it. Fluid on those electrical parts can cause a short circuit and start a fire. Many of these vehicles were in an earlier recall and still need work. If the ABS warning light stays on more than 10 seconds after starting, Nissan says park outside, away from buildings, and stop driving. Dealers replace the pump unit free.

Nissan and Infiniti backup camera image can stay off

The backup camera and display settings can be adjusted so the rear view image no longer appears — and the system keeps that setting the next time you shift into reverse. That means the screen can stay blank when you back up and you cannot see what is behind the vehicle. Because of this, these vehicles do not meet the federal rear visibility rule. A dealer will update the camera settings software for free.

Infiniti QX50 knee airbag cover may detach in cold

Certain 2019 INFINITI QX50 vehicles have a problem with the passenger-side knee airbag, the small airbag low in the dash that protects a front passenger's legs. In a crash during very cold weather, the trim cover over that airbag can break away completely instead of splitting along the seam built into it. A loose cover flying free during deployment can hurt the passenger it was meant to protect. Retailers will replace the passenger-side knee airbag at no charge.

Infiniti QX30 seat belt anchor bolt wrongly installed

On some 2018 Infiniti QX30s, the bolt holding the bottom anchor point of the right-hand seat belt may have been installed incorrectly at the factory. That anchor is what keeps the lower end of the belt fastened to the body of the car. In a crash it could pull free, so the belt would not hold the person as it should. Dealers weld in a new retaining plate and fit a new anchor bolt at no cost. Nissan reported all affected vehicles were repaired by July 17, 2018.

Infiniti QX30 driver's airbag can deploy without a crash

The steering wheel parts in these Infiniti QX30s may not be grounded well enough. If static electricity builds up and the coiled wiring inside the steering wheel that feeds the driver's airbag is already broken, the airbag can go off on its own, with no crash and no warning. A sudden deployment in your face while you are driving can injure you and cause you to lose control. Dealers add extra grounding to the steering parts to stop this.

Infiniti Q50 fuel pump software may stall engine

Certain Infiniti Q50 and Q60 cars with the 2.0-liter engine have the wrong software in the computer that runs the fuel pump. Because of it, the car may not pull the last of the gasoline out of the main tank, so the engine can stall while you are driving even though the gauge still shows fuel. Dealers reload the fuel pump computer with corrected software at no charge, and it is a fairly quick visit.
