Nissan Altima passenger airbags may have wrong mounting fasteners

The front passenger airbag and the passenger knee airbag may have been installed with the wrong mounting fasteners. If those airbags are not held in place the way they were designed to be, they may not inflate properly in a crash, so they may not protect the person sitting there. Dealers will replace the mounting fasteners at no charge. Nissan expects to mail owner letters on September 25, 2026, and affected VINs became searchable on NHTSA's site on August 17, 2026.

Nissan Armada and Infiniti QX80: wrong weight rating label

The sticker on the door frame lists how much weight each axle can safely carry. On these vehicles with 22-inch wheels, that number is printed too high. If you load up to what the label says, you could actually be carrying more than the tires and wheels are built to handle. Nissan will install a corrected label free of charge and is also mailing replacement labels to owners. Nothing mechanical is wrong with the vehicle itself.

Nissan Sentra driveshaft may slip, causing rollaway risk

The left front driveshaft, the rod that sends engine power to the front wheel, may not be pushed all the way into the transmission. It can work its way loose, leak transmission fluid, and leave the car without power to the wheels. Because the shaft is not fully locked in, the car may also roll away on its own when parked if you have not set the parking brake. Dealers will inspect and replace parts if needed.

Nissan Kicks driver display screen can go blank

A software error in the instrument display of certain 2025 and 2026 Kicks vehicles can make the screen in front of the driver go partly or completely blank. When that happens you cannot see your speed or any warning lights, so you would not know how fast you are going or that something needs attention. Because of this the display does not meet the federal rule for controls and displays. Dealers will reprogram the software.

Nissan Rogue turbo engines can lose driving power

These Rogue SUVs have the 3-cylinder 1.5-liter turbo engine. Inside the engine there is a part called the throttle body, which controls how much air the engine gets when you press the gas pedal. Small gears inside it can break. If they do, the engine may stop responding and the vehicle can lose power while you are driving. Your dealer updates the engine computer's software and checks the throttle body, replacing it if needed, at no cost.

Nissan Rogue VC-Turbo Engine May Seize and Fail

Some Rogues with the small three-cylinder turbo engine can run hot enough to break down the engine oil. When that happens, the bearings inside the engine can seize and tear up the engine. The engine can quit while you are driving. In a bad case the damaged bearing punches a hole in the engine block and hot oil is thrown out, which can start a fire. The dealer reloads the engine computer software and checks the engine, and replaces it if it is already damaged.

Nissan Altima and Sentra: doors may open while driving

Each door latches onto a metal catch bolted to the body. On these vehicles those catches may have been welded badly and can break. If one breaks, that door can swing open while the car is moving. Someone leaning against the door could fall out, and a door flying open can cause a crash. The dealer will replace the door catches, called strikers, free of charge.

Nissan and Infiniti backup camera may not show image

When you start the vehicle, a software glitch in the touchscreen system can keep the backup camera picture from showing up. Shift into reverse and the screen may stay blank, so you cannot see what is behind you. Federal rules require that picture to appear. This affects certain Nissan Murano and Armada and Infiniti QX80 models. The fix is a software update, done either at the dealer or sent to the vehicle over the air, at no charge.

Nissan Sentra windshields may have vision-blocking air bubbles

Some 2025 Sentra windshields left the factory with air bubbles trapped in the glass. You may see them as small blisters or distortions in your line of sight. Because of this, the glass does not meet the federal safety rule for car windows. Bubbles in the wrong spot can hide another car, a cyclist, or a person crossing the road. A Nissan dealer will check your windshield and replace it if needed, free.

Nissan NV200 and Chevy City Express can stall

A wiring bundle for the sensor that reads fuel tank temperature may have been routed the wrong way at the factory. Run wrong, those wires can rub and get damaged, causing a short that blows the fuse for the fuel pump. With that fuse blown, the pump stops feeding fuel and the engine can quit while you are driving — including in traffic or at an intersection. A dealer will inspect the wiring and reroute it, or replace the fuel pump assembly if needed.

Nissan LEAF battery may overheat during quick charging

The battery in these Nissan LEAFs equipped with a quick-charging port can overheat while plugged into a Level 3 fast charger — the high-power public chargers, not your home outlet. A battery that gets too hot can catch fire. Nissan is telling owners to stop using Level 3 quick charging until the car has been fixed. A dealer will update the battery's software free of charge, which corrects how charging is managed.

Nissan and Infiniti turbo engines may fail or burn

Certain Nissan Rogue and Altima and Infiniti QX50 and QX55 models with the 1.5-liter or 2.0-liter variable compression turbo engine were built with faulty engine bearings. Those bearings can wear out and destroy the engine. In a bad failure the bearing can punch a hole in the engine block, spraying hot oil that can start a fire. The dealer reprograms the engine computer at no charge to reduce the risk.

Nissan Kicks backup camera screen can go blank

On certain 2025 Nissan Kicks and Frontier vehicles, the big screen in the middle of the dash can go completely blank when you shift into reverse. That means no backup camera picture, so you cannot see what is directly behind you while backing up. These vehicles do not meet the federal rule for rear visibility. The fix is a free software update for the display at the dealer. Until it is fixed, rely on your mirrors and look over your shoulder when backing up.

Nissan Kicks sticker lists wrong weight and wheel info

The certification sticker on the car shows the wrong maximum weight the vehicle and its axles are allowed to carry. Going by those numbers, you could load the car more heavily than it is built to handle. On some SR models with the optional 19-inch wheel package, the same label also lists the wrong wheel size, which can lead to putting the wrong air pressure in the tires. A dealer puts on corrected labels.

Nissan Murano, Pathfinder, Infiniti QX60: front calipers may break

One or both front brake calipers — the parts that squeeze the brake pads against the wheel to slow the car — may not be as strong as they should be, and could break. If one breaks, you can lose braking at the front wheels, which do most of the stopping. Because of this, the vehicles do not meet the federal brake safety standard. Dealers will inspect both front calipers and replace them where needed.

Nissan Sentra driver's seat may not be secured

On certain 2025 Sentra cars, the driver's seat frame may not be fully fastened to the outer side of the seat track. That means the seat is not held down the way it should be. In a crash, a loose seat may not hold the driver in place properly, and the seat belt anchor points may not do their job. These cars do not meet the federal safety rules for seats and seat belt anchorages. A dealer will inspect the seat and replace the lower seat frame if needed.

Nissan Kicks may roll away without shift-to-park warning

On some 2025 Nissan Kicks, the reminder that is supposed to tell you the car is not in Park may not come on. If you shut the engine off while the car is still in Drive or another gear, you may get no warning at all. You could walk away thinking the car is parked, and it can roll on its own and hit something or someone. The dealer reprograms the body control computer so the warning works again.

Nissan Z Pop-Up Hood May Not Rise for Pedestrians

These cars have sensors in the front bumper that detect when the car hits a person. When they go off, the back of the hood pops up to cushion the impact. On some of these cars, two plugs on the right side were connected the wrong way around, so the hood may not pop up when it should. That means a person struck by the car could be hurt worse. The dealer will replace the bumper wiring.

Nissan Rogue and Infiniti QX80 backup camera goes blank

A software glitch can make the backup camera screen go blank when you shift into reverse. Instead of seeing what is behind the vehicle, you get a black display. That also breaks a federal safety rule requiring a working rear view. The problem is in the infotainment software, not the camera itself, so the fix is a software update. Many vehicles can receive it wirelessly without a trip to the dealer.

Nissan LEAF battery can overheat during fast charging

These LEAFs have a port for Level 3 quick charging, the fast public chargers that refill the battery in well under an hour. The notice says the big lithium-ion battery pack can get too hot during that kind of fast charging, and a battery that overheats can catch fire. The fix is not a new part but new software for the battery, which a dealer loads onto your car for free. Nissan is releasing this repair in phases.

Nissan Ariya may lose drive power from software glitch

The Ariya's inverter is the part that sends power from the battery to the electric motor. Its software may read a problem that is not really there. When that happens, the system can shut itself down and the car loses drive power, so it stops pulling and you cannot accelerate. This can happen while you are driving, including in traffic. The fix is a software update, so the dealer checks the version and reloads it if needed.

Nissan Sentra windshield bubbles hide the VIN

The windshield may have air bubbles in the glass at the lower driver's side corner. That is the spot where your car's VIN, the number that identifies your exact vehicle, shows through. The bubbles can make the number hard to read, which breaks a federal glass standard. If you cannot read your VIN, you may not be able to tell whether your car is covered by a future recall and could miss a free repair. Dealers will check the windshield and replace it if needed.

Nissan Ariya may suddenly lose drive power

Some 2023 Ariya electric SUVs have rubber seals, called O-rings, inside the front electric drive motor that may have been damaged when the motor was put together. Damaged seals can let oil leak inside the motor. That internal leak can cause the vehicle to unexpectedly lose drive power, meaning the car could stop pulling while you are driving. Nissan dealers will replace the entire front traction motor assembly at no cost to you.

Nissan Sentra Front Driveshaft Can Slip, Causing Power Loss

The front left driveshaft — the bar that sends power from the transmission to the wheel — may not be pushed in all the way, or the clip that holds it may be loose or missing. If it works free, transmission fluid can leak out and the car can stop driving. Dealers will check the driveshaft and, if needed, replace it along with the transmission at no cost to you.

Nissan Pathfinder and Infiniti QX60 seat belt part loose

On certain 2024 Nissan Pathfinder and Infiniti QX60 vehicles, a rivet is missing from the driver's-side front seat belt. That rivet holds down the part of the lap belt that pulls the belt tight in a crash. Without it, that part is not properly fastened to the vehicle, so the lap belt may not hold the person in the seat during a crash. A dealer inspects the belt and replaces the part if needed.

Nissan Rogue front seat belts may not restrain occupants

The front seat belts in some 2023 Nissan Rogues include a part that pulls the belt snug against you the instant a crash begins. Those parts may have been built incorrectly, so the driver and front passenger belts may not hold people properly in a crash. The belts look and feel normal in everyday use, so there is no way to spot the problem yourself. Dealers will replace the front seat belt assemblies as needed, free of charge.

Nissan and Infiniti driver airbag may deploy improperly

Because of a manufacturing problem, the driver's airbag in these Nissan and Infiniti vehicles can soak up moisture. A damp airbag may not inflate the way it is supposed to in a crash. That means the airbag in the steering wheel might not protect the driver properly in a collision. There is no warning light or symptom you can check yourself. The dealer replaces the whole driver's airbag at no cost.

Nissan LEAF rearview camera image may distort or disappear

The wiring that carries the picture from the backup camera can get damaged. When it is, the image on the screen may look scrambled or not show up at all, so the driver cannot see what is behind the car while backing up. Certain 2018-2022 LEAF cars are affected. A dealer will check the camera and its wiring, replace parts if damaged, and otherwise reroute the wire and add protective tape, all free.

Nissan Murano side quarter windows can detach

The quarter glass on some 2024 Murano SUVs — the small fixed window panes toward the rear on each side — may have been installed with the wrong primer. Primer is what helps the adhesive grip the glass, so with the wrong one the glass can work loose and come away from the vehicle. A glass panel that falls off in traffic can land in the road or strike another car. Dealers will replace both the left and right quarter glass panels free of charge.

Nissan Altima steering bolts can loosen, causing lost control

On some 2024 Altimas, the bolts that hold the electric power steering unit to the steering rack can work loose. The steering rack is the part that turns your front wheels when you turn the wheel. If those bolts loosen, the steering can go slack or seize up, and turning the car may become difficult or impossible. Nissan dealers will install a whole new steering gear assembly at no cost. Letters went out to owners in February 2024.

Nissan Rogue rear brake calipers can leak brake fluid

The rear brakes on some 2021 Rogues were built with a small part missing inside the brake caliper — the piece that holds a rubber seal in place. Without it, the seal can shift and brake fluid can leak out. Brake fluid is what makes the brakes work, so losing it can leave you with weak brakes and a longer stopping distance. Cars inspected under the earlier recall may still need this repair.

Nissan Z pop-up hood may not activate properly

The Z has a hood that pops up at the back in a front-end crash with a person on foot, to cushion the impact. On these cars, the fasteners in a clip behind the left side of the front bumper can loosen. If they do, that safety feature may not activate when it should. The car still drives normally and you would probably never notice the loose fasteners, but a pedestrian struck by the car could be hurt worse.

Nissan Ariya can suddenly lose drive power

In some 2023 Ariya electric SUVs, the software that runs the inverter — the part that sends power from the battery to the motor — can wrongly decide there is an electrical short. When that happens, it shuts down the electric drive system and the vehicle loses power to the wheels. You could suddenly find yourself coasting with no acceleration, possibly in moving traffic. The repair is a software update rather than a parts replacement.

Nissan Altima and Sentra backup camera wiring can fail

The wiring that carries the picture from the backup camera can get damaged. When that happens, the image on the screen may look distorted or may not appear at all when you shift into reverse, so these Altima and Sentra vehicles do not meet the federal rear visibility requirement. Dealers will inspect the camera and its wiring and replace parts if they find damage. If nothing is damaged, they will add protective tape and reroute the wiring so it stops rubbing.

Nissan Sentra steering tie rods can bend and break

A tie rod is the part that connects the steering to a front wheel. On these cars the left tie rod, the right one, or both can bend. A bent tie rod can eventually break, and if that happens you lose the ability to steer. Warning signs are a steering wheel that sits off-center when you are driving straight, or a vibration you can feel. Dealers will inspect and replace bent or broken rods, then later replace both with redesigned parts.

Nissan Versa and Kicks can lose power steering assist

Some 2021 Nissan Versa and Kicks vehicles have a faulty electrical connection in the sensor that tells the power steering system how hard you are turning the wheel. The connection can cut in and out, which shuts off the power steering help. The car can still be steered, but the wheel becomes much harder to turn, especially at low speeds such as parking or pulling out. Dealers will check a code on the steering column and replace the column if needed.

Nissan LEAF may speed up on its own

On these LEAF electric cars, the vehicle can pick up speed when you did not ask it to. It happens after you shut off cruise control and then change the way the car drives — moving the shifter from D to B, switching e-Pedal on, or selecting ECO mode. The fix is a free software update to the computer that controls the car, done at the dealer. Nissan planned to mail owner letters on August 30, 2023.

Nissan Sentra water leak can corrode electrical parts

On some 2022 Sentra cars, the seal near the base of the windshield on the driver's side may be missing or installed wrong. Water can get inside the car and rust the electrical wiring. That damage can knock out important systems — the windshield wipers, outside lights, or the airbags may stop working, and you might be able to shift out of Park without pressing the brake. Damaged wiring can also short out and start a fire.

Nissan Rogue rear seat belt anchor bolts may loosen

On some 2023 Rogues, the bolts that anchor the rear seat belts to the body may not have been tightened enough on the assembly line, and they can work loose as the miles add up. A loose anchor means a rear seat belt may not hold a passenger the way it should in a crash. Dealers will check and tighten those bolts, and add labels at each anchor point listing the correct bolt size and tightness for any future repair.

Nissan Rogue, Pathfinder, Infiniti QX60 driver's seat may loosen

The driver's power seat may not be bolted tightly to its frame. Over time the welds holding the frame to a bracket at the back can break loose. A seat that isn't firmly attached may not hold the driver in place in a crash, so a crash that would have caused minor injuries could cause worse ones. A dealer checks the seat and replaces the seat cushion frame if needed, at no charge.
