Ram 1500 second-row seat belt anchors improperly installed

The anchors that hold the seat belt buckles for the center and left second-row seats may not have been attached correctly at the factory. If an anchor is not properly secured, the seat belt may not hold a passenger in place during a crash. Because of this, the trucks do not meet the federal standard for seat belt anchorages. Dealers will inspect the anchors and fasten them to the body of the truck as needed, free of charge.

Ram trucks: instrument panel display can suddenly go blank

A software error can make the instrument panel go blank — that is the display behind the steering wheel showing your speed, which gear you are in, and the warning lights. With it dark, you cannot tell whether you are in Drive or Reverse, and you would not see alerts about the brakes, stability control, low tire pressure, or the airbags. Chrysler mailed letters in May 2026; a dealer reloads the software.

Jeep and Ram trailer lights and brakes may fail

The part that sends power from your vehicle to a trailer was designed wrong. If you tow, the trailer's brake lights and turn signals may not light up, so drivers behind you cannot tell when you are slowing down or turning. The trailer's own brakes can also stop working, which leaves your vehicle doing all the stopping with a heavy trailer pushing from behind. The dealer replaces the trailer tow module at no cost.

Ram 3500 and 5500 driver airbag may not deploy

A software mistake in the computer that controls the air bags and seat belts can keep the driver's air bag and/or the driver's seat belt tightener from going off in a crash. The same problem also shuts down electronic stability control, the system that helps keep the truck from sliding or spinning on slippery roads and in sharp turns. The dealer fixes it by reloading the software in that computer, at no cost to you.

Rollx Wheelchair Vans: Restraints May Not Lock Wheelchair

These are vans converted by Rollx for wheelchair use. The straps that hold a wheelchair use retractors, which work like a seat belt: they pull in slack and then lock so the chair cannot roll. On these vans, the QRT-Deluxe and QRT-Max retractors may fail to lock. If they do not lock, the wheelchair and the person in it can shift or slide while the van is moving, which raises the risk of injury. Rollx and the restraint maker will check the retractors and replace them if needed.

Ram pickup and chassis cab dashboard display can go blank

A software error can make the display screen behind the steering wheel go completely blank. That screen is where you see your speed, your warning lights, and which gear the truck is in. With it dark, you would not see a brake warning light come on, and you could not confirm whether the truck is in drive or reverse. The dealer updates the software, or replaces the whole instrument cluster if the update is not enough, at no charge.

Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 side airbag inflators can burst

These trucks have curtain airbags that drop down alongside the side windows in a crash. Because of a manufacturing defect, the metal canister that fills one or both of those bags can burst instead of inflating them properly. If that happens, sharp pieces of metal can fly out and strike people inside the truck. The problem only shows up in a crash, which is exactly when the airbag is supposed to protect you. Dealers replace the affected airbags free.

Ram 1500 through 5500 driver airbag may not deploy

A control part inside the steering column may keep the driver's airbag from working the way it should. If you are in a crash, the airbag in the steering wheel may not inflate, leaving you without that protection. These trucks do not meet the federal rule for crash protection because of it. Nothing about the way the truck drives will feel different, so you cannot tell on your own whether yours is affected.

Ram ProMaster radiator fan wiring can overheat and catch fire

The wiring that powers the radiator cooling fan can get too hot. That overheating can damage the circuit and start a fire under the hood, even while you are just driving normally. The free fix replaces the cooling fan module and its fuse, and the dealer adds a label for the fuse box plus an insert for your owner's manual. Chrysler has been mailing letters in groups, with the last ones expected in July 2026.

Electric Ram ProMaster vans can lose drive power

This covers the battery electric versions of the ProMaster van. The software that controls the electric drive unit may not manage power to the wheels properly, and the van can lose drive power. If that happens while you are pulling into traffic, climbing a hill or merging onto a highway, the van may slow or stop moving when you expect it to go. Dealers will reload the software in several control computers and, if needed, replace the electric drive unit.

Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 side airbags can burst apart

The curtain airbags that drop down over the side windows have a part inside that inflates them with gas. Because of a manufacturing mistake, that part can break apart when the airbag goes off. Instead of just cushioning you, it can send sharp metal pieces flying into the cab and hurt the people inside. Dealers will replace one or both side curtain airbags as needed, at no cost. Owner letters were mailed in September 2025.

Ram ProMaster and Dodge Journey backup camera may fail

A tiny computer chip inside the backup camera can crack. When it does, the picture behind the vehicle may not show up properly on the screen as you reverse, so you could miss a person or object behind you. Chrysler will replace the camera at no cost, but the parts are not ready yet. The letter mailed September 30, 2025 is only a warning; a second letter with the actual fix is expected around July 2026.

Ram truck dashboard shows wrong brake warning light

The dashboard gauge cluster in certain 2026 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500 and 5500 trucks, including cab chassis versions, can show the wrong brake system warning light. That means if something goes wrong with the brakes, the truck may not warn you the way it is supposed to, so you would not know to get it looked at. A dealer replaces the whole instrument panel cluster free of charge.

Ram ProMaster backup camera image may not display

A software error in one of the van's control modules can stop the backup camera picture from appearing on the screen when you shift into reverse. Without that view you cannot see a child, a person, or an object right behind the van, and a large cargo van is already hard to see out of from the driver's seat. This also fails a federal rear visibility rule. Dealers will fix it with a free software update, and owner letters were mailed in June 2025.

Ram 2500 and 3500 dashboard shows wrong gear

Some Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks with the small 3.5-inch dashboard display and a column shifter have a software error. The display can show the wrong gear, so it might read park or neutral when the truck is actually in drive or reverse. A driver who trusts that reading could step out or release the brake and have the truck move unexpectedly. Federal rules cover what these displays must show, so the trucks do not meet the standard. Dealers reload the software free.

Ram 1500 driver airbag may not be connected

Chrysler is recalling certain 2019-2024 Ram 1500 pickups. The driver's side airbag may not have been connected properly, so it might not inflate the way it is supposed to in a crash. Dealers fixed this by securing the airbag connectors at no charge, and Chrysler reports that all affected trucks have already been repaired. Owner notification letters were mailed May 27, 2025. It is still worth checking your own truck to confirm the work was done.

Ram trucks: side curtain airbag inflators may rupture

The side curtain airbags run along the roof above the side windows and drop down in a crash. On these trucks, a manufacturing problem means the part that inflates the airbag — on the right side, the left side, or both — can burst instead of filling the bag. If that happens, sharp pieces of metal can fly into the cab and hit the people inside. A dealer will replace one or both side curtain airbags at no cost.

Ram heavy-duty trucks: anti-lock brakes and stability control can fail

These trucks have a part called the hydraulic control unit that runs the anti-lock brakes, the electronic stability control and the traction control. It can fail, shutting all three systems off. Without them, the wheels can lock up in a hard stop and the truck gets no help staying straight on slippery roads or in a sudden swerve, which makes a crash more likely. The notice does not say your regular brakes stop working.

Ram 1500 Classic tow mirror glass can fall off

On certain Ram 1500 Classic trucks with heated trailer-tow mirrors, the mirror glass on the driver's side can come loose and fall out of the mirror housing. Without that glass, you lose the view down the side and behind your truck, so you cannot see traffic coming up beside you or check your blind spot. Chrysler says these trucks do not meet the federal rear-visibility rule. A dealer will put in new mirror glass at no cost.

Ram 1500 stability control may shut off

Electronic stability control is the system that quietly applies individual brakes to keep the truck from sliding or spinning in a turn or on a slick road. A software problem in the anti-lock brake computer can switch that system off. Normal braking still works, but the extra help in a skid may not be there when you need it. These trucks do not meet the federal rule for stability control. Dealers reprogram the computer free.

Jeep, Ram, Chrysler backup camera may show nothing

The radio software in these vehicles can keep the backup camera picture from appearing at all. When you shift into reverse, the screen may not show what is behind you, so you cannot see a child, a person, or an object in the vehicle's path while backing up. That makes it much easier to hit something you never saw. The repair is a software update for the radio, done at the dealer or sent to the vehicle wirelessly.

RAM 3500 transmission leak can cause power or park loss

A weld inside the transmission control unit may not be strong enough. If it fails, transmission fluid can leak onto electrical parts. That can make the truck lose drive power while you are moving, or lose the park function, so it might roll after you shift into park. Chrysler says both of these raise the risk of a crash. A dealer will replace the valve body and control unit at no charge. Owner letters were expected to be mailed July 26, 2024.

Dodge Durango and Ram trucks lose stability control

A software error in the computer that runs the anti-lock brakes can switch off the electronic stability control system. Stability control senses when the vehicle is starting to slide or spin in a turn and automatically brakes individual wheels to help you stay on course. With it shut off, you still have normal brakes and steering, but you lose that automatic help. Because of this, the vehicles do not meet the federal safety rule that requires stability control to work.

Ram ProMaster vans missing a side door beam

These vans were built without a steel beam inside one of the side doors. That beam is what helps protect people inside if another vehicle hits the van from the side. The sticker on the door frame also lists the wrong number of seats, so the van could end up loaded with more people than it should carry. Dealers will install the missing door beam and put a corrected label over the old one, free.

Ram ProMaster loose ground may disable stability control

Some 2021 Ram ProMaster vans left the factory with a loose electrical ground connection. That loose connection can shut off the electronic stability control, the system that senses when the van is starting to skid or slide in a turn and quietly brakes individual wheels to keep it pointed where you are steering. Without it, the van handles like an older vehicle with no such help, and it is easier to lose control on a slippery or sudden maneuver. Chrysler says all affected vans have been repaired.

Ram ProMaster left taillight and turn signal quit

A wiring connection in these vans can be poor, and when it is, the left taillight and the left turn signal stop working. Other drivers then cannot see that you are turning left, and at night or in bad weather your van is harder to see from behind. Both make a crash more likely, especially in traffic. A dealer will inspect the wiring harness and replace it if needed, free. You may not notice a rear light is out from the driver's seat.

Jeep, Ram and Chrysler vehicles: driver airbag may not deploy

A part in the steering column may not have been welded correctly at the factory. That part carries the electrical signal to the driver's airbag in the steering wheel. If the weld is bad, the airbag may not inflate during a crash, so the driver would not get the protection it is supposed to give. A dealer will check the part and replace it if needed at no cost to you.

Ram ProMaster driver seat belt warning may not work

On certain Ram ProMaster vans, the light and chime that remind the driver to buckle up may not come on. The part inside the driver's seat belt buckle that tells the van whether the belt is fastened can fail, so you get no reminder at all. Because of this, the van does not meet the federal rule for protecting people in a crash. A dealer will check the buckle and replace it if needed, at no cost.

Ram trucks may confuse turn signals and high beams

The control unit behind the steering wheel, the part that handles the stalk for your turn signals and high beams, may not work properly. Using the turn signal can switch on your high beams, and using the high beams can switch on a turn signal. The turn signal may also fail to shut itself off after you finish a turn. Other drivers can be misled or blinded. Dealers update the module software, and replace the module if needed, free.

Ram trucks may not show the backup camera image

The software that runs the radio and touchscreen can keep the backup camera picture from showing up when you shift into reverse. Without that picture you cannot see what is directly behind the truck, so it is easier to back into a person or an object. Federal rules require the camera view to appear. The fix is a free software update at the dealer; no parts need to be replaced.

Ram 1500 and Jeep Grand Cherokee diesels can stall

These Ram 1500 and Jeep Grand Cherokee trucks with the 3.0-liter diesel engine have a toothed ring on the crankshaft that can come apart in layers. The engine computer reads that ring to time the fuel injectors and the camshaft, so when it breaks down the engine loses its timing and can stall. Dealers will reprogram the engine computer so the vehicle keeps running, free of charge. This recall is an expansion of an earlier one, 20V-475.

Ram ProMaster may roll away despite being in Park

Debris inside the transmission can stop the parking latch from fully locking when you put the van in Park. If it is only partly engaged, the van can roll away after you walk away from it. This affects certain Ram ProMaster vans with the 62TE transmission. A dealer will update the transmission software and inspect the transmission, replacing it or parts inside it if needed, at no cost to you. Owner letters were mailed in June 2023.

Ram 1500 eTorque software glitch can stall engine

Certain 2021 Ram 1500 trucks with the 5.7L eTorque engine have a software problem in the computer that controls the engine and transmission. The software can create the wrong mix of fuel and air in the engine, which can make the engine shut off while you're driving. The dealer will reload updated software at no cost. Owner notification letters were mailed April 27, 2023. Chrysler's number for this recall is 37A.

Ram Heavy Duty Diesel Trucks Engine Fire Risk

These diesel trucks use an electric heater to help the engine start in cold weather. The relay — the switch that turns that heater on — can short out electrically, and it can do so whether the ignition is on or off. A short there can start a fire in the engine compartment. A dealer will replace the relay free of charge. The repair is being rolled out in stages, starting with 2023 models, then 2022, then 2021.

Ram 1500 backup camera may not show image

When you shift into reverse, the screen is supposed to show the view from the backup camera. On these trucks, a computer that handles the trailer backup steering feature can stop that picture from appearing. With no camera image, you cannot see what is behind you as well, so it is easier to back into a person or an object. The fix is a software update for that computer, and the dealer does it free.

Ram ProMaster shipped with wrong rearview camera type

Some 2022 Ram ProMaster chassis cab and incomplete vehicles were built with the wrong kind of backup camera. It is an analog camera, and it cannot actually be installed on these trucks, so the driver has no working rear view on the screen. Federal rules require a working backup camera, and these vehicles do not meet that rule. Without one, it is harder to see people or objects behind you when you back up. The dealer will supply a digital camera free.

Ram pickup tailgate may open while you drive

On these Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickups, the catch that the tailgate latches onto may be out of position. As a result the tailgate may not lock shut properly and can swing open while you are driving. Anything in the bed that is not tied down can then slide or fall out onto the road behind you, where it becomes a hazard for other drivers. The dealer adjusts it free.

Ram 2500 and 3500 transmission fluid leak fire risk

Pressure and heat can build up inside the automatic transmission on these heavy-duty Ram pickups. That pressure can push transmission fluid out of the dipstick tube, the tube where you check the fluid level. If that fluid drips onto something hot in the engine bay, it can catch fire. A dealer will install a new dipstick and a new transmission vent part so the pressure can escape normally instead of forcing fluid out. The parts and labor cost you nothing.

Jeep and Ram diesel fuel pump can fail

These trucks and SUVs have a 3.0-liter diesel engine with a high-pressure fuel pump that pushes fuel to the engine. That pump can fail. When it does, the engine stalls, which can leave you without power while you're driving — in traffic or at highway speed. That narrow passage can cause a hose to burst. If a hose bursts, you can lose braking power, which makes it much harder or impossible to stop the truck. The trucks also do not meet the federal safety rule for brake hoses. A dealer will put in new rear brake hoses.
