Rivian R1T and R1S front turn signals may fail

One or both front turn signals on these trucks and SUVs may not light up and flash when you signal. Drivers ahead of you and at intersections then get no warning that you are about to turn or change lanes. Because of this, the vehicles do not meet the federal rule covering lamps and signals. You may not notice the problem from the driver's seat, since the front lamps are hard to see while you are driving.

Rivian R1T and R1S Seat Belt Bolts Loose

On certain Rivian R1T pickups and R1S SUVs, the bolts that hold the second-row seat belt retractors — the spools the belts wind into on the driver and passenger sides — may not have been tightened enough. If a bolt is loose, that seat belt may not be held firmly in place. Rivian will inspect the bolts and tighten any that need it, free of charge, so the belts work the way they should.

Rivian R1T and R1S rear suspension link may come apart

This recall covers Rivian trucks and SUVs that had service work done before March 10, 2025. During that work, a rear suspension part called the toe link may have been put back together incorrectly. The toe link helps keep the rear wheel pointed straight. If its joint comes apart while you are driving, the wheel can move out of position and you could lose control. Rivian will replace the rear toe link bolts at no cost to you.

Rivian EDV driver's seat belt tensioner cable may be damaged

On some 2022-2025 Rivian EDV delivery vans, the cable for the driver's seat belt tensioner can become damaged. The tensioner is the part that pulls the belt snug against you the instant a crash begins. If its cable is damaged, the belt may not hold the driver as firmly as it should in a crash. Rivian has already sent out an over-the-air software update, and dealers will inspect the driver's belt tensioner and replace it if needed.

Rivian R1S and R1T driver-assist may miss vehicle ahead

Your Rivian's Hands-Free Highway Assist is a driver-assist feature that helps keep pace with traffic on the highway. On these R1S and R1T vehicles running software older than version 2025.18.30, that system may not correctly spot the vehicle ahead of you. If it misses the car in front, it may not react the way it should. Rivian fixes this with a free over-the-air software update that downloads to the vehicle itself, so no shop visit is needed.

Rivian R1S and R1T can lose drive power

Inside the box that routes high-voltage power from the battery to the rest of the truck or SUV, one ground connection may not have been made properly. If that connection fails, the vehicle can lose drive power, meaning it stops pulling and you can no longer accelerate. Losing power in traffic raises the chance of a crash. Rivian will check the connection and repair it, or replace the whole battery pack if that is what it takes.

Rivian R1S and R1T front turn signals may fail

One or both of the front turn signals may not light up or blink. Drivers around you would have no way of knowing you plan to turn or change lanes, which can lead to a crash. Rivian will check the front turn signals and replace them if needed, at no cost. The parts are not ready yet, so owners get a first letter now and a second letter when the repair can be scheduled.

Rivian R1T and R1S front seat belt anchors may be loose

On these Rivian trucks and SUVs, the bolts holding the front seat belt anchor — the metal loop the belt passes through near your shoulder — may not have been tightened correctly at the factory. This can affect one or both front seats. If an anchor is not secured properly, the seat belt may not hold you in place the way it should in a crash. Rivian will inspect the anchors on both front seats and tighten or secure them as needed.

Rivian R1S and R1T low beams fail in cold

On certain Rivian R1S and R1T vehicles, the low-beam headlights may not turn on when you start the vehicle in cold weather. The part that controls the headlights can fail to switch them on, so you could be driving with no low beams. Rivian will replace the headlight control modules at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed on September 22, 2025. Rivian's number for this recall is FSAM-1612.

Rivian R1T and R1S exterior lights may not turn on

A software version on these 2025 Rivian R1T and R1S vehicles has a bug. When the Car Costume feature is turned on, some of the outside lights may not come on at all. Without working exterior lights, other drivers have a harder time seeing you, especially at night or in bad weather. Rivian sends a free software update to the vehicle over the air; no dealer visit is needed.

Rivian R1S steering stalk missing cruise control markings

The control stalk on the steering column — the one you use to turn cruise control on and off — may be missing its printed markings. Without those symbols, a driver may not know how to switch cruise control on or how to shut it off. The cruise control itself is not broken; only the labeling is missing. Rivian will inspect the control unit on the steering column and replace it if the markings are missing, at no cost to you.

Rivian R1T and R1S carry wrong weight-limit label

The tire and loading information sticker on your Rivian lists the most weight the vehicle can carry, counting passengers and cargo together. On these vehicles the number printed on that sticker is wrong, so it does not meet the federal labeling rule. If you load up to the number shown, you could end up carrying more weight than the vehicle is built to handle, and an overloaded vehicle is harder to control and more likely to crash.

Rivian R1T and R1S trim clips affect curtain airbags

During a past service visit, the clips that hold the interior trim panels along the roof pillars — the posts beside and behind the front seats — may have been damaged. Those panels help guide the side curtain airbags, which drop down along the windows in a crash. With broken clips, a curtain airbag may not open the way it should, so it may not protect you properly. Rivian will replace the trim panels at no charge.

Rivian R1T and R1S headlights aimed incorrectly

The headlights on these trucks and SUVs may not be pointed where they should be. Headlights have to be aimed within set limits so they light up enough of the road ahead without blinding oncoming drivers. On these vehicles the aim can be off, which means less of the road is lit at night or in bad weather. Rivian will check the aim and adjust the headlights if they are out of position.

Rivian R1T and R1S missing dashboard airbag warning label

The warning label that belongs on the dashboard may be missing from these trucks and SUVs. That label tells you an airbag can seriously hurt a baby or child riding in the front seat. Without it, a driver may not realize the danger of putting a child up front. Because the label is missing, the vehicle does not meet the federal rule on crash protection. Rivian has mailed owners the warning label information at no charge.

Rivian R1T and R1S accelerator pedal misreads release

On certain 2022 Rivian R1T and R1S trucks and SUVs, the accelerator pedal may not sense when you have taken your foot off it. Because of that, the vehicle may not switch on "auto-hold" or shift into "park" the way it should. The result is that the vehicle can move when you expect it to stay still, which could catch you or someone nearby by surprise.

Rivian R1T and R1S windshield defroster controls turned off

A software update sent to certain 2022-2023 Rivian R1T pickups and R1S SUVs may have switched off the controls for the windshield defroster and defogger. If those controls do not work, you cannot clear fog or ice off the windshield, so your view of the road ahead can get badly reduced while you are driving. Rivian has already sent out a free over-the-air software update that puts the defroster and defogger controls back in working order.

Rivian R1S reverse lights hard to see from angles

The white lights that come on when you shift into reverse can't be seen from some angles on these SUVs. That means a person walking behind you, or a driver in the next lane over, may not get the usual warning that you're about to back up. The lights don't meet the federal rule for how visible they have to be. Rivian will repair or replace the reverse lights at no cost to you.

Rivian R1S side curtain airbags may be loosely fastened

These 2022-2023 Rivian R1S SUVs have side curtain airbags, the ones that come down along the windows to protect people's heads. The fasteners holding the left and right curtain airbags in place may not be properly secured. If they are loose, the airbags may not work the way they are supposed to, so people inside would get less protection in a crash. Dealers tighten or replace the airbags free of charge, and Rivian says all owners were notified and vehicles repaired.

Rivian R1T and R1S front passenger airbag may not deploy

On certain 2022 Rivian R1T and R1S vehicles, a sensor in the front passenger seat belt can report the wrong setting. That wrong reading can make the vehicle hold back the front passenger airbag or set it off in the wrong way during a crash. Because of this, the vehicle does not meet the federal safety rule for crash protection. A dealer will check the front passenger seat belt parts and replace what is needed.

Rivian trucks and SUVs may have loose steering bolt

A bolt that joins the front suspension arm to the part the wheel steers on may not have been tightened enough when the vehicle was built. If that bolt works its way loose and comes apart, the connection holding the front wheel in place can separate. You could suddenly lose the ability to steer the vehicle. Rivian dealers and service technicians will inspect the bolt and tighten it if needed, and the check costs you nothing.

Rivian R1T and R1S front seat belt anchors loose

On some 2022 Rivian trucks and SUVs, the bolts holding the front seat belts to the post beside the front doors may not have been tightened properly at the factory. The seat belt may look and feel normal, but in a crash the anchor could pull loose and the belt would not hold you in place the way it should. Rivian will check both front seat belts and tighten the bolts if needed, at no cost.

Rivian R1T passenger airbag may not switch off for kids

Your truck has a system in the front passenger seat that is supposed to sense when a child or a child seat is sitting there and switch the passenger airbag off. On some R1Ts, that system may not turn the airbag off as it should. If the airbag goes off in a crash, it could strike a child who should have been shielded from it. Rivian service centers will replace the entire front passenger seat at no cost.
