2 recalls covering model years 2025. To check whether your vehicle is affected, look up your 17-character VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls — a recall may apply only to some vehicles of a given year.
Reported Aug 12, 2026 · Campaign 26V525000 · Model years: 2025
On certain BMW vehicles including the M550i xDrive, the connection between the driveshaft and the rear differential can become damaged. This can cause a loss of power to the rear wheels while driving, or it can lead to the vehicle rolling away on its own if the parking brake isn't set. A sudden loss of power increases the risk of a crash, and an unexpected rollaway increases the risk of a crash or injury.
After repeated starting attempts, the starter motor in these vehicles may overheat because of an electrical overload. An overheated starter sitting in the engine compartment can get hot enough to ignite nearby material that catches fire easily.
