Do-Not-Drive Recalls

Every recall where NHTSA or the manufacturer tells owners to stop driving the vehicle until it is repaired.

A do-not-drive advisory is the strongest warning a recall can carry. It means the defect can cause a crash or injury without warning, and the maker does not consider the vehicle safe to use in the meantime. Dealers normally tow the vehicle in or send a mobile technician at no cost — ask for that when you call rather than driving it in.

26 recalls for 2018–2026 model-year vehicles carry this advisory. By make: Ford 7, Volkswagen 4, Subaru 3, Mercedes-Benz 2, Porsche 2, Kia 2, Toyota 2, BMW 2, Volvo 1, Chevrolet 1, GMC 1, RAM 1, Audi 1. See also: park-outside (fire risk) recalls.
