Car Recall Tracker is an independent information service. Nothing on this site is legal, mechanical, safety or purchasing advice, and nothing here creates a relationship between you and the site operator. Decisions about whether to drive, park, repair or buy a vehicle are yours, and should be based on the official recall notice, the manufacturer's instructions and a qualified technician.
Where the data comes from
Recall notices and owner-complaint counts are retrieved from the public API of the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and refreshed daily. NHTSA data is in the public domain. We do not alter the official notice text, which is shown on every recall page. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by NHTSA or any vehicle manufacturer. Manufacturer names and model names belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify the vehicles concerned.
How the explanations are produced
The plain-English summaries, problem guides, used-car notes and severity labels are generated automatically from the official notice text by a language model, using a fixed set of rules, and are checked by sampling against the source notice. They are written to be easier to read than the legal wording, not to replace it. They can contain mistakes, may lag behind an updated notice, and never state that a vehicle is safe to keep driving. If the summary and the official notice disagree, the official notice is correct.
Accuracy and completeness
We cover model years 2018 and newer for the makes listed on the home page. A model that does not appear here may still have recalls. A recall shown here may already have been repaired on your vehicle. The only way to know whether a specific car has an unrepaired recall is the official NHTSA VIN lookup or the manufacturer. We make no warranty that the site is accurate, complete or available, and we are not liable for any loss arising from its use.

Using our content
You may link to any page. Short quotations with a link back are welcome. Wholesale copying of the generated explanations is not permitted. The underlying NHTSA data is free for anyone to use from NHTSA directly.
