Reported 2018-03-21 · Campaign 18E016000 · Model years: 2018
BMW sold accessory windscreens for a number of its motorcycles, including R1200 GS models, that were made with extra tinting. The dark shade can make it harder for the rider to see the road ahead. Because of that extra tint, the windscreens do not meet the federal safety rule covering see-through materials on vehicles. A BMW dealer will take the tinted windscreen off your motorcycle and put on a replacement that meets the rule.
Reported 2017-07-28 · Campaign 17V481000 · Model years: 2018
If your motorcycle has the optional aluminum saddle cases, the cases can cover part of the red reflectors at the back. On the R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure, the brackets that hold the cases can block them too. Those reflectors bounce back other drivers' headlights so people can see you in the dark. Federal rules require them to be visible. The dealer will add reflectors to the cases, or fit an extra bracket that carries reflectors.
