BMW and MINI crankshaft sensor fault can stall engine high

Reported 2018-07-12 · Campaign 18V465000 · Model years: 2019

A sensor that tracks the position of the engine's crankshaft was built with the wrong software inside it. Because of that, it may not read the engine correctly, and the engine can suddenly stall. A stall can happen while you are driving, leaving you without power in traffic. Dealers will replace the crankshaft sensor for free. BMW first announced this for one model and later expanded it to thousands more BMW and MINI vehicles.

Curt trailer hitch on Mini Clubman, Countryman may separate high

Reported 2017-09-17 · Campaign 17E051000 · Model years: 2018

This recall covers an add-on trailer hitch, part number 11451, that was sold to fit these Mini models — it is the hitch being recalled, not the car. The places on the vehicle where the hitch bolts on are not strong enough, so under certain loads the hitch can sag and may even come off the vehicle. A hitch that droops or detaches while you are towing can cause a crash. Curt will supply a replacement hitch free.
