Mitsubishi Mirage G4 airbags may shut themselves off high

Reported 2019-04-26 · Campaign 19V330000 · Model years: 2018

The airbag system has a sensor that detects the sudden jolt of a crash. In these cars, that sensor can mistake ordinary shaking — from rough roads or a flat tire — for a fault, and in response it switches off every airbag in the car. If you then get into a crash, none of the airbags will inflate to protect you. A dealer will reprogram the airbag control unit's software so it stops misreading normal vibration.
