BMW X7 lounge seat bolts may be under-tightened

NHTSA campaign 19V135000 · Reported 2019-02-27 · BMW of North America, LLC

medium How serious is it? About this label

The danger only shows up in a crash, and no affected vehicle was sold to the public, so dealers replaced the bolts before anyone drove these SUVs.

What's wrong, in plain English

BMW found that on some 2019 X7 SUVs ordered with the "business lounge seat" option, the bolts holding the seat mount to the vehicle may not have been tightened enough. Loose bolts mean the seat may not stay firmly anchored in a crash, so someone sitting there could be hurt more badly than they otherwise would be. None of these SUVs reached customers — they were held on dealer lots for the fix.
