Ford Bronco Sport moonroof glass may detach while driving

NHTSA campaign 21V809000 · Reported 2021-10-15 · Ford Motor Company

high How serious is it? About this label

Serious — the glass can let go without warning and become a hazard for the cars behind you, so get it inspected promptly even though the notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

The glass panel in the moonroof may not have been glued to its frame properly when the vehicle was built. If the bond is weak, the whole piece of glass can come off the roof while you are driving. That leaves a large piece of glass in the road behind you, which can hit another car or a person and cause a crash or injury. A dealer will check the date code on your glass and replace it if needed, for free.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see whether your Bronco Sport is included.
2. Schedule the moonroof inspection with a Ford dealer, or call Ford at 1-866-436-7332 (recall 21S46).
3. The inspection and any glass replacement are free of charge.
