Ford Bronco Sport fuel pump problem can stall engine

NHTSA campaign 22V787000 · Reported 2022-10-20 · Ford Motor Company

high How serious is it? About this label

An engine that stalls unexpectedly can lead to a crash, and while Ford has not told owners to stop driving, you should book the repair promptly.

What's wrong, in plain English

On some 2022 Ford Bronco Sport SUVs, the bracket holding the fuel pump's electronic control box may not be properly attached to the fuel tank. If the bracket comes loose, that control box can fail, and the engine can shut off while you are driving. Losing engine power in traffic raises the chance of a crash. The fix is a new fuel tank, which the dealer installs at no cost to you.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your Bronco Sport is covered by recall 22S66.
2. Contact your Ford dealer for an appointment, or call Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332.
3. Have the fuel tank replaced — the repair is free.
