Ford Bronco Sport software may miss low battery charge

NHTSA campaign 24V683000 · Reported 2024-09-13 · Ford Motor Company

high How serious is it? About this label

Serious — a sudden loss of drive power or hazard lights can put you in a crash, so schedule the update soon rather than putting it off.

What's wrong, in plain English

The computers that manage your engine and electrical system may not notice when the 12-volt battery is running low. If the charge drops without being detected, things can stop working — including your hazard lights — or the vehicle can lose drive power while you are on the road. The fix is a free software update at the dealer. Important: if your vehicle already had the earlier repair for this same problem under recall 24V-267, it still needs this new fix.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, and check it again even if you already had the earlier 24V-267 repair. 2. Contact your Ford dealer or Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (recall 24S60) to book the software update. 3. Have it done — there is no charge.
