What's wrong, in plain English

A small gear that drives the engine's oil pump can fail. When it does, the scooter can suddenly stop pulling while you are riding. Losing power in traffic, on a hill, or in the middle of an intersection can easily lead to a crash or an injury. Honda dealers will install a new oil pump driven gear at no cost. Letters went out to owners on August 6, 2025.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your scooter is covered.
2. Contact a Honda powersports dealer or Honda customer service at 866-784-1870 (recall KR9) to schedule the free gear replacement.
3. Until it is repaired, avoid high-speed roads and heavy traffic where a sudden loss of power would be most dangerous.
