Ford F53 RV chassis rear sway bar brackets can break high

Reported 2022-09-30 · Campaign 22V731000 · Model years: 2020, 2021

These are the bare chassis that motorhomes are built on. The brackets holding the rear sway bar — the part that keeps the vehicle steady in turns — can break and fall off while you're driving. A bracket lying in the road is a hazard for you and for anyone behind you. A dealer will check how tight the bolts are on both rear brackets and replace the bolts and nuts if they need it.

Ford F53 chassis front wheel studs may break high

Reported 2018-07-16 · Campaign 18V470000 · Model years: 2018

Certain 2018 Ford F53 stripped chassis units, the bare chassis sold to other builders, have 22.5-inch front wheels held on by studs that were not heat treated properly. Studs made this way are weaker than they should be and can break. If enough of them break on one front hub, the way the vehicle handles can be affected, making it harder to control and more likely to crash. A dealer will replace any suspect front wheel studs.
