The cylinder head, a major part at the top of the engine, may have been made incorrectly on these motorcycles. That flaw can cause a rod bearing inside the engine to fail. If it does, the rear wheel can suddenly lock up, or engine oil can leak out onto the rear tire. Oil that reaches hot exhaust parts can also start a fire. Honda will replace the entire engine, but the replacement parts are not ready yet.

The fuel pump inside the gas tank has a spinning part that may have been molded wrong. Over time it can warp and jam, so the pump stops sending gas to the engine. If that happens while you're riding, the engine can quit without warning, which is dangerous on a motorcycle in traffic. A Honda dealer will check the fuel pump and put in a new one if needed, at no cost to you.
