Why do Honda fuel pumps and fuel lines keep getting recalled?
Two problems dominate: pumps that quit and lines that leak. Three overlapping low-pressure fuel pump recalls from 2020, 2021 and 2023 sweep in Honda and Acura models from 2013 through 2023 — Accord, Civic, CR-V, HR-V, Fit, Insight, Odyssey, Passport, Pilot, Ridgeline, ILX, MDX, RDX, RLX, TLX — all with the same stalling risk, and the 2018-2024 Gold Wing, CBR600RR and CBR1000RR share it through deformed impellers. The leak side skews newer: the 2023-2025 Accord, CR-V Hybrid and Civic high-pressure pump, the 2023-2025 Pilot and Passport filler pipe, the 2025 CR-V Hybrid fuel hose, plus earlier Ridgeline and CR-V tank failures. FI-ECU software stalls round out the group.
Warning signs to watch for
- Engine stalling or losing power without warning while driving
- A gasoline smell, or fuel pooling or dripping under the vehicle
- Fuel leaking near the rear tire on the CB1000SP motorcycle
- A fuel gauge reading that doesn't match the gas actually in the tank, on the 2020 CR-V
- Stalling or power loss on the Africa Twin when Wheelie Control is activated
Is it safe to keep driving?
No recall in this group carries a stop-driving or park-outside order. Two notices set their own condition, though: Honda says to stop driving the 2023-2025 Accord, CR-V Hybrid or Civic if you smell or see leaking fuel, and the same applies to the 2025 CR-V Hybrid fuel feed hose and the CB1000SP, which should not be ridden if fuel is leaking. The stalling recalls — the low-pressure fuel pumps and the FI-ECU software errors — permit continued driving, but a stall in traffic is exactly the risk, so schedule promptly.
What the free repair involves
Leak recalls are largely inspect-and-replace: the high-pressure fuel pump, the Pilot and Passport filler neck tube and pipe, the CR-V fuel tank, the Ridgeline fuel pump plus a new pump cover, and new fuel hoses on the 2025 CR-V Hybrid and CB1000SP. Stalling recalls replace the fuel pump assembly or module, or reprogram FI-ECU software. Every repair is free.

Common questions
I received three fuel pump recall letters for different Hondas — is that an error?
Probably not. Honda issued expanded low-pressure fuel pump recalls in 2020, 2021 and 2023 covering different build ranges, and the 2023 one spans 2013-2023 models. One vehicle can appear in more than one, so check each recall number against your VIN.
What should I do if I smell gasoline?
Stop driving and contact your dealer. The high-pressure fuel pump, the 2025 CR-V Hybrid fuel feed hose and the CB1000SP notices all say to stop if you smell or see fuel, because leaking gasoline near an ignition source can start a fire.
Does the fuel pump recall still apply if my car starts and runs fine?
Yes. These recalls cover pumps that may fail, not only ones that already have. Honda replaces the pump assembly or module free whether or not you've had trouble, and the 2020 remedy has been available since July 22, 2020.
