The hybrid power control unit, the box that manages electricity between the battery and the motor, can overheat on some 2024 through 2026 Hyundai Elantra Hybrids. Overheating raises the risk of a fire. The fix is a free software update at the dealer that keeps the unit from getting too hot. Hyundai mailed letters to owners on July 3, 2026, and affected vehicle numbers have been searchable on the government recall site since May 16, 2026.
