Mitsubishi Mirage airbags may shut off from vibrations high

Reported 2017-10-30 · Campaign 17V686000 · Model years: 2018

In certain 2014-2018 Mirage cars, a sensor inside the airbag computer can be fooled by ordinary shaking — rough roads or a flat tire, for example. The computer mistakes that vibration for a broken sensor and switches the airbags off. If you then get into a crash, the airbags may not inflate at all. Mitsubishi dealers will load new software into the airbag computer so it no longer misreads normal bumps and jolts.
