Cadillac XTS front seat belt buckles missing a rivet

NHTSA campaign 18V899000 · Reported 2018-12-19 · General Motors LLC

high How serious is it? About this label

Serious, because a seat belt that separates in a crash leaves the person unrestrained; the notice does not say to stop driving, but this is worth getting inspected right away.

What's wrong, in plain English

Some 2019 Cadillac XTS cars left the factory with a front seat belt that is missing a small metal rivet. That rivet is what holds the buckle — the part you click the belt into — onto the strap that anchors it to the car. Without it, the buckle can come apart in a crash, so the belt would not hold the person in the seat the way it should. A dealer will look at both front buckles and swap out any that are missing the rivet.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your XTS is affected. 2. Contact your Cadillac dealer or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 (recall number N182204040) to book the inspection. 3. Have the front buckles inspected and replaced if rivets are missing — at no cost to you.
