BMW C400X scooter throttle can freeze and stick open

A throttle that sticks open is a serious hazard and can cause a crash; the notice does not order owners to stop riding, but be especially cautious in freezing weather until the cable is replaced.
What's wrong, in plain English
On certain 2019 BMW C400X scooters, water can collect inside the throttle cable — the cable that opens the engine when you twist the grip. In cold weather, that trapped water can freeze and leave the cable stuck. If it sticks while the throttle is open, the scooter keeps accelerating even after you let go of the grip, which is very difficult to control in traffic. BMW replaces the cable with an improved version that resists the problem.
What you should do
2. Contact your BMW Motorrad dealer or BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 to schedule the cable replacement.
3. Have the improved throttle cable installed — the repair is free of charge.
