In these Explorers, the seat belt buckle for the middle seat in the second row may not have been fastened to the seat properly at the factory. If that buckle is not secured, the belt may fail to hold a passenger in place during a crash, so someone riding there could be hurt worse than they otherwise would be. Ford dealers will replace the entire second-row center seat assembly, free of charge, on affected vehicles.
