Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator may lose power

NHTSA campaign 20V788000 · Reported 2020-12-17 · Ford Motor Company

high How serious is it? About this label

Serious, because losing power in traffic can cause a crash; Ford does not tell owners to stop driving, but this repair should not be put off.

What's wrong, in plain English

The bolts holding the right-side engine mount may not have been tightened correctly, and they can work loose over time. A loose engine mount lets the engine shake around, and that shaking can make the axle pull away from the engine. If that happens, the vehicle can lose power while you are driving. Dealers will remove and replace the right-hand engine mount bolts at no cost to you. This recall began on February 3, 2021.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see whether your vehicle is affected. 2. Contact a Ford or Lincoln dealer, or Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332, and mention recall 20S72. 3. Have the engine mount bolts replaced — the repair is free.
