Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer backup camera may not display
medium How serious is it? About this label
A missing backup camera image raises the risk of backing into someone or something, especially a child you cannot see; the notice does not tell anyone to stop driving, and these vehicles have not been delivered to owners yet.
What's wrong, in plain English
A software problem in the radio can keep the backup camera picture from appearing on the screen when you shift into reverse. Without that view, you cannot see what is directly behind the vehicle, which makes it easier to back into a person or object. Federal rules require a working rear view, so these vehicles do not meet that standard. Every affected vehicle is still sitting on a dealer lot, so no owner letters are being sent. The fix is a software update.
What you should do
2. Contact the Jeep dealer, or FCA US customer service at 1-800-853-1403, to confirm the radio software has been reprogrammed.
3. Have the dealer complete the software update before delivery — it is free of charge.

- Summary
- Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer vehicles. The radio software may prevent the rearview image from displaying. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."
- Safety risk
- A rearview camera that does not display an image reduces the driver's rear view, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy
- Dealers will reprogram the radio software, free of charge. All affected vehicles are still within dealership inventory and therefore no owner notification letters will be sent. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is YA1.
