This is a minor defect — the bike is safe to ride — but being less visible to other drivers at night raises the chance of a crash, so get the reflector replaced.

What's wrong, in plain English

The reflector on the back of your motorcycle does not bounce back enough light. Reflectors are what make a parked or slow-moving bike show up in another driver's headlights at night, so a dim one makes you harder to see. Nothing on the bike stops working, and you will not notice anything while riding. A dealer swaps in a new rear reflector, which is a quick job.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your motorcycle is covered by recall KM3.
2. Contact your Honda dealer, or Honda customer service at 1-866-784-1870, to schedule the reflector replacement.
3. Have the new rear reflector installed at no cost to you.

Summary
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Super Cub C125, CB500X, CB650R, CBR300R, CBR500R, CBR650R, Rebel 300, Rebel 500, Monkey, 2020 CRF250L, GROM, 2021 CRF300L, and CB500F motorcycles. The rear reflector lens may not reflect brightly enough. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Safety risk
A dim rear reflector may reduce the visibility of the motorcycle to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the rear reflector, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 7, 2021. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-866-784-1870. Honda's number for this recall is KM3.
