Single BMW X5 passenger airbag may not deploy properly
high How serious is it? About this label
An air bag that does not deploy properly can increase the risk of injury in a crash. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.
What's wrong, in plain English
BMW found that one 2019 X5 xDrive 40i was built with an instrument panel — the dashboard structure in front of the passenger seat — that was not made correctly. Because of that flaw, the front passenger airbag might not open the way it is supposed to in a crash, so someone in that seat could be injured more badly. A dealer will replace the entire instrument panel free of charge. Only this one vehicle is affected.
