What's wrong, in plain English

These Aviators have a plug-in hybrid system that charges from an outlet. Inside the charging port, a metal connector in the wiring can work loose. If that happens, the vehicle can lose its drive power, meaning it stops pulling and you cannot keep up with traffic. Losing power in a traffic lane raises the risk of being hit. Dealers will check a date code on the charge port wiring and replace the wiring if it is affected, free.

Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2022 Lincoln Aviator vehicles equipped with the 3.0L plug-in hybrid powertrain. The inlet charge port harness bus bar may become unseated, leading to a loss of drive power.
Safety risk: A loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect the inlet charge port harness date code label, and replace the harness, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 2, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S19.
