Ford Maverick side-curtain airbags may not deploy correctly
high How serious is it? About this label
Serious — the truck drives normally, but protection in a side crash or rollover may fall short of what it should be, so arrange the free replacement as soon as you can.
What's wrong, in plain English
Some 2022 Ford Mavericks have side-curtain airbags that may not open properly. These are the airbags that drop down along the side windows to cushion your head and help keep people from being thrown out of the vehicle in a side crash or rollover. If they do not work as designed, people inside can be hurt more seriously. Dealers will replace both the left and right side-curtain airbag units with a redesigned part, free of charge.
What you should do
2. Call your Ford dealer, or Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332, to schedule replacement of both side-curtain airbags.
3. Have the new airbag units installed — parts and labor are free.
