Jeep Grand Cherokee high beams may not turn on quickly

NHTSA campaign 24V130000 · Reported 2024-02-22 · Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)

medium How serious is it? About this label

Moderately serious — high beams that do not come on when you need them reduce how far you can see at night and raise crash risk; the notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

On certain 2023-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L vehicles, when the main headlight switch is left in the AUTO position, the driver may not be able to switch on the high beams right away. High beams are what you use to see farther down a dark road. Because of this, the vehicle does not meet the federal rule for headlights and other lamps. A dealer can correct the settings.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your vehicle is included. 2. Contact your Jeep dealer or FCA US customer service at 1-800-853-1403 (recall 12B). 3. Have the dealer reconfigure the high beam settings — the repair is free.
