This is very serious — a wheel folding outward means a sudden loss of control and a likely crash — and although the notice does not order owners to park the vehicle, you should get it inspected and repaired right away.

What's wrong, in plain English

On some 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokees, a steering part called the knuckle was machined wrong at the factory. It can come apart where it joins the ball joint, which lets a front wheel fall outward while you are driving. If that happens you would lose control of the vehicle. The notice does not describe any warning light or noise beforehand. Your dealer will replace the steering knuckle free of charge.

What you should do

1. Look up your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls immediately to see if your Grand Cherokee is affected.
2. Call your Jeep dealer, or FCA US at 1-800-853-1403 (recall 07B), and ask for the soonest possible appointment.
3. Have the steering knuckle replaced free of charge, and drive as little as possible until it is done.
