Ford Bronco Sport and Maverick may lose drive power

NHTSA campaign 24V267000 · Reported 2024-04-12 · Ford Motor Company

high How serious is it? About this label

Fairly serious — losing power in traffic can cause a crash, and although the notice does not tell owners to stop driving, the free reprogramming should be scheduled soon.

What's wrong, in plain English

The computers that control the body and the powertrain may not notice when the 12-volt battery's charge is running down. If a low battery goes undetected, you can lose electrical features such as the hazard lights, or the vehicle can lose drive power while you are on the road. Dealers will reprogram both control modules at no cost to you. Ford mailed owner notification letters on June 4, 2024.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your vehicle is on the list.
2. Call your Ford dealer, or Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332, and reference recall 24S24.
3. Have both modules recalibrated — the repair is free.
