What's wrong, in plain English

On some 2023 Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L SUVs, the connections behind the dashboard screen were not fastened tightly enough. When that happens, the picture from the backup camera may not appear on the screen when you shift into reverse. You lose the view of the area right behind the vehicle that the camera is there to show you, and federal rules require that image to appear. Chrysler says every affected vehicle has already been fixed.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see whether your SUV is in recall 44B and whether it has already been remedied.
2. If it still shows as open, call your Jeep dealer or FCA US customer service at 1-800-853-1403.
3. The dealer secures the display screen connections, free of charge.

Summary
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L vehicles. Improperly fastened screen module connections may prevent the rearview camera image from displaying. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."
