What's wrong, in plain English

A module behind the Aviator's screen can pick up interference from a cell phone inside the vehicle. When that happens, the picture from the backup camera can flicker or look distorted while you are in reverse. That makes it harder to see people, pets, or objects behind you. Ford says owners should not use a cell phone while backing up until the fix is done. A dealer will add shielding to the module so phone signals no longer disturb the picture.

1. Look up your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your Aviator is covered. 2. Keep phones out of use while reversing, and check your mirrors and surroundings. 3. Contact your Lincoln dealer or Ford at 1-866-436-7332 (recall 24S35) for the free shielding installation.

Remedy
Owners are advised not to use their cell phones while reversing until the remedy is completed. Dealers will install shielding on the accessory protocol image module (APIM), free of charge.
