A child that is not properly restrained during a crash can have an increased risk of injury. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

The welds that hold the child-seat top tether anchors on the back of the second-row seat may not be strong enough. Those anchors are the hook-up points for the strap at the top of a forward-facing child seat. In a crash, weak welds could let the anchor pull loose, so the child seat would not hold the child in place the way it should. The vehicle does not meet the federal rule for child-seat anchors.

Summary: Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles. The child seat tether welds on the second-row seat back frame may be insufficient, which can reduce the seat's ability to properly restrain a child during a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 225, "Child Restraint Anchorage Systems."
Safety risk: A child that is not properly restrained during a crash can have an increased risk of injury.
Remedy: Dealers will reinforce the child seat tether welds on the seat back frame, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 3, 2024. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is 85B.
