What's wrong, in plain English

Some 2022 Mavericks that were already fixed under an earlier recall still have a problem: the truck's computers may not notice when the 12-volt battery is running low on charge. If the charge drops without being detected, electrical items can quit — including the hazard flashers — and the truck can lose power to the wheels while you are driving. A dealer will reprogram the body and powertrain computers so they read the battery correctly.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, even if you already had the earlier recall done.
2. Contact your Ford dealer or Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 24S50.
3. Have both computers recalibrated free of charge — owner letters were mailed August 26, 2024.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2022 Maverick vehicles previously repaired under recall number 24V-267. The body and power train control modules may fail to detect a change in the 12-volt battery state of charge.
Safety risk
An undetected low battery charge can result in a loss of electrical accessories such as hazard lights, or cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will recalibrate the body control module and power train control module, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 26, 2024. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24S50.
