A fuel leak near hot parts can cause a fire, so this is serious; the notice does not tell owners to stop driving, but get the free repair done right away and have the car checked if you smell gasoline.

What's wrong, in plain English

The fuel injectors spray gasoline into the engine. On these vehicles, some injectors were put together at the factory without a small support disc that helps the rubber seal hold tight. Without that disc, gasoline can leak out. If leaking fuel reaches something hot, such as the engine or exhaust, it can catch fire. Only certain vehicles built with the faulty assembly are affected. A dealer will install new seals and the missing support discs at no cost.

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your vehicle is on the list. 2. Contact your Ford or Lincoln dealer, or Ford at 1-866-436-7332 (recall 24S54), to schedule service. 3. The new O-rings and support discs are installed free of charge.

Component: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM:INJECTORS
Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2023 Lincoln Corsair, 2023-2024 Escape, 2024 Mustang, and 2025 Explorer vehicles. The fuel injectors may have been assembled without O-ring support discs, which can result in a fuel leak.
Safety risk: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Dealers will install new fuel injector O-rings and O-ring support discs, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on October 7, 2024. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24S54.
