Ford and Lincoln EcoBoost engines can break, losing power
high How serious is it? About this label
Serious: the notice does not tell you to park the vehicle, but losing engine power while driving — especially at highway speed or while merging — raises the risk of a crash, so have the engine tested promptly.
What's wrong, in plain English
Some 2021-2022 Ford and Lincoln models with the 2.7L or 3.0L EcoBoost engine can have an intake valve break while you are driving. Those valves let air into the engine, and if one snaps, the engine can fail and stop making power. That means you could suddenly lose the ability to accelerate or hold speed in traffic. Dealers run a test on the engine and, if it fails the test, replace the whole engine at no charge.
What you should do
2. Contact your Ford or Lincoln dealer, or Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332, to schedule the engine test (owner letters were mailed July 3, 2025).
3. Have the test done and, if the engine fails it, accept the free engine replacement.
