Ford Maverick child seat tether anchors may not hold

NHTSA campaign 24V778000 · Reported 2024-10-18 · Ford Motor Company

medium How serious is it? About this label

A child seat that is not secured properly increases the risk of injury in the event of a crash. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

The tether anchors for the second-row child seats on some 2024 Ford Mavericks were not threaded in far enough. A tether is the top strap that keeps a forward-facing child seat from pitching forward in a crash, and it hooks onto one of these anchor points. If an anchor pulls loose because the threads never fully caught, the child seat will not be held the way it should be. Ford dealers repair the anchor points free of charge.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your Maverick is part of recall 24C33.
2. Schedule the free tether anchor repair with a Ford dealer, or call Ford at 1-866-436-7332.
3. Until the repair is done, ask your dealer or a child seat technician about the safest way to secure the seat in your truck.
