Not seeing behind you while backing up increases the chance of a crash, but the notice does not tell owners to stop driving the vehicle.

What's wrong, in plain English

Certain 2024 Jeep Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer, Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L models have incorrect software in the rearview camera. Because of it, the camera picture may not appear on the screen when you shift into reverse. Without that view, you cannot see what is directly behind the vehicle while backing up. This also means these vehicles do not meet the federal rear visibility rule. Dealers will reprogram the camera module with corrected software at no charge to you.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your Jeep is included. 2. Contact your Jeep dealer for the camera software update, referring to FCA recall number D5B. 3. Get the free update installed; FCA customer service is at 1-800-853-1403.

Summary
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2024 Jeep Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer, Grand Cherokee, and Grand Cherokee L vehicles. Incorrect software in the rearview camera module may cause the rearview camera image not to display. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."
Safety risk
A rearview camera image that does not display decreases the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will update the rearview camera module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 21, 2025. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is D5B.
