Ford Maverick will not warn of a failed turn signal

NHTSA campaign 25V094000 · Reported 2025-02-14 · Ford Motor Company

medium How serious is it? About this label

This does not stop the truck from running and there is no order to stop driving, but other drivers may not know you are turning, which raises the chance of being hit.

What's wrong, in plain English

Your truck has already been in for an earlier turn signal recall, but that repair was not done correctly. Normally, if a rear turn signal stops working, the remaining signal blinks fast to tell you something has failed. On these trucks it does not, so you can drive around with a dead rear turn signal and never know it. Drivers behind you would not see you signaling a turn. A dealer will reload the correct software at no charge.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls — this one applies only to Mavericks repaired incorrectly under the earlier recall.
2. Call your Ford dealer or Ford customer service at 866-436-7332 (recall 25C04) to book the software update.
3. Have the dealer update the body control module software — the repair is free.

Summary
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles previously repaired incorrectly under recall number 23V-848. In the event that one of the rear turn signals stops working, the vehicle will not adjust the turn signal flash rate frequency to warn the driver that a turn signal has failed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Safety risk
A nonfunctioning exterior turn signal cannot notify other drivers that the vehicle is turning, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will update the body control module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 27, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25C04.

Verify your specific vehicle by VIN at nhtsa.gov. Recall repairs are free of charge by law.
