Ford Explorer, Mustang, Lincoln Nautilus can lose driving power

NHTSA campaign 26V122000 · Reported 2026-03-03 · Ford Motor Company

high How serious is it? About this label

Suddenly losing drive power in traffic can lead to a crash; the notice does not say to stop driving, but schedule the free repair as soon as you can.

What's wrong, in plain English

A valve that routes some exhaust back into the engine can fail. When it does, the vehicle can suddenly lose the power that drives the wheels while you are on the road. That can leave you slowing down or coasting in traffic with other cars around you, with little warning. Dealers will replace the valve at no charge. Notification letters went out and you can look your vehicle up by VIN now.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls — VINs became searchable March 4, 2026. 2. Contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (recall 26S10) or your dealer; owner letters were mailed July 31, 2026. 3. Have the EGR valve replaced free of charge.
