Tesla Model Y missing its weight certification label

NHTSA campaign 26V315000 · Reported 2026-05-19 · Tesla, Inc.

low How serious is it? About this label

Low — the car drives normally and the notice places no restriction on it; just avoid heavy loads, roof cargo, or towing until the label is in place.

What's wrong, in plain English

Some 2025-2026 Tesla Model Y vehicles left the factory without the certification label installed. That is the sticker, normally found in the driver's door opening, that lists how much weight your vehicle can safely carry, counting passengers and cargo together. Without it, there is no simple way to know that limit, so you could load the car heavier than it was built to handle. An overloaded car is harder to steer and stop, which raises the chance of a crash.
