Ford Focus may stall from faulty fuel vapor valve

NHTSA campaign 26V369000 · Reported 2026-06-09 · Ford Motor Company

high How serious is it? About this label

Ford does not tell owners to stop driving, but an engine that quits without warning in traffic can lead to a crash, so schedule the free update soon, especially if you have already felt the car stall.

What's wrong, in plain English

These Focus cars were repaired once before under an older recall, but that earlier fix was done incorrectly. A valve in the system that handles fuel vapors can malfunction, and when it does the engine can shut off on its own while you are driving. Losing the engine in traffic means losing power, and steering the car to the side of the road becomes much harder. The dealer will load corrected engine computer software, which fixes the problem.
