Buying a used 2022 Honda GL1800? Check these 2 recalls first
The 2022 Gold Wing is no longer covered by the engine bolt recall that affects 2018 through 2021. It does fall under two campaigns: the high-severity fuel pump that can fail and stall the engine, and a medium-severity software error that can also cause a stall. Neither was issued as stop-driving or park-outside. The complaint record is minimal — one unverified NHTSA report, in service brakes, with no crashes, fires or injuries.
Before you buy
- Get the 17-character VIN from the seller and run it at nhtsa.gov/recalls. It shows which recalls are still unrepaired on that exact car.
- Confirm the fuel pump replacement was done by VIN, not just scheduled
- Ask whether the stall-related software update has been loaded
- Have the brakes inspected, the sole area with an owner report
- Open recalls are repaired free at any Honda dealer, whoever owns the car — an open recall is a to-do item, not a bill.
