Volvo hybrids and EVs can lose braking while coasting downhill critical

Reported 2025-06-12 · Campaign 25V392000 · Model years: 2021

On these Volvo plug in hybrids and electric models, the software that runs the braking system has a flaw. In certain situations, when you are coasting down a hill using B mode on a hybrid or One Pedal Drive on an electric model, the brakes can stop working. Volvo says not to use those two driving modes at all until the fix is done. The repair is a software update that can be sent to the car over the air or done at a dealer.
