One BMW i4 eDrive40 has loose battery cable connection critical

Reported 2025-12-23 · Campaign 25V906000 · Model years: 2025

BMW is recalling a single 2025 i4 eDrive40. On that car, the connection where the positive battery cable meets the rear power distribution box may not be tight. A loose connection can cut power and make the car stall while you are driving. It can also get very hot, which can start a fire. A dealer will check that cable connection and tighten or repair it if it is not right.

BMW i4, i5, iX electric motor software can cut power high

Reported 2025-07-23 · Campaign 25V395000 · Model years: 2025

The software that runs the electric drive motor can shut down the high-voltage system. If that happens, the vehicle loses drive power and will not pull, even though you are still steering and moving. BMW is fixing this with a software update. For many owners it arrives over the air, downloaded by the car itself, and a dealer can also install it. Either way there is no cost. Notification letters went out in August 2025.
