Honda CB300R, CBR300R and CRF250L transmission can lock up critical

Reported 2019-06-04 · Campaign 19V412000 · Model years: 2018

A small metal retaining ring inside the transmission can slip off the main shaft. Without it, the gears can slide out of position. Two things can go wrong. The bike can drop into gear by itself while you are starting the engine, causing it to lurch unexpectedly. Or the transmission and rear wheel can seize while you are riding. Dealers replace the transmission main shaft at no cost to you.

Honda CRF250L wiring may fail, killing lights and horn high

Reported 2018-09-13 · Campaign 18V630000 · Model years: 2018

The bundle of electrical wires that runs through the motorcycle may have been routed or fastened incorrectly at the factory. Over time that can damage the wiring. Damaged wiring can knock out the lights, the horn, and the instrument panel, so you would have no speedometer or fuel gauge — and the bike would not meet federal rules for lights and controls. Damaged wiring can also make the engine stall. Dealers inspect the harness and replace it if needed.
