A sensor inside the airbag control unit tells the vehicle when it has rolled over. On these vehicles that sensor may not work correctly. If the car rolls over in a crash, the head airbags, the seat belt tighteners and other safety equipment may not turn on, leaving people inside less protected in exactly the kind of crash where that protection matters most. Dealers replace the airbag control unit free of charge.

That mistake wears out the joint at the end of the rod faster than normal, and over time the rod can break. If it snaps while you are driving, that wheel stops following the steering wheel and you can lose control of the car. Dealers will inspect and replace the tie rods and ball joints as needed.
A sensor that tracks the position of the engine's crankshaft was built with the wrong software inside it. Because of that, it may not read the engine correctly, and the engine can suddenly stall. A stall can happen while you are driving, leaving you without power in traffic. Dealers will replace the crankshaft sensor for free. BMW first announced this for one model and later expanded it to thousands more BMW and MINI vehicles.
